Rollcentre have designed a new brake set up for the 458 Race car. It utilises AP Discs, with Rollcentre Bells, AP Fitting kit and Project Mu or Pagid Yellow Pads. There is no machining of uprights required to fit this kit. The brake pads are specifically machined to give the best piston to centre of pad location. The Project Mu pads that we use are used in 24 Hour races, and are sintered, however their performance is superb, and they give great feel and instant response, as well as fantastic wear rates on both pad and disc. We have used these pads extensively in 24 hour races and they are quite superb. We have gone the AP route specifically as the discs are significantly cheaper to replace than the Brembo equivalent. The rear calipers need the bolts removing from the uprights, and we supply specially made studs that then loctited into the upright, moving the caliper inboard. The piston and disc sizes have been worked out to at least maintain the standard brake balance, and possibly move the bias forward slightly. To redress any bias issues, on this system or on the standard CCM brakes, we have incorporated an inexpensive bias bar set-up that hydraulically limits the rear brakes through a lever, so optimum braking can be achieved as the brakes heat up more at one end of the car than the other. The driver can change the bias quite easily during his stint.

The best pad performance is from the PMU SAS 964. If you do not have enough front brake cooling then we recommend PMU H16 Fronts with SAS 964 Rears
