Qualifying was a nip and tuck affair with Martin Short banging in a last fast lap, which didn't show on the timing screens at the end, and left rivals celebrating in the garage.  However, it was not to be for them, and Short started the first race in pole position, a place which proved to be a template for the weekend results.



Despite losing the lead to Richard Chamberlain's Porsche in the early laps of Race one, Short took the advantage, and reclaimed the lead as Chamberlain missed a gear which nearly caused a rear end shunt! As Short managed to miss a full on embrace up the back end of the Porsche, Chamberlain slipped back and ended up back in the garage with problems which ended in a blaze in the car.  Back on track, the Rollcentre Mosler had a dice with the Chevron, but with the Mosler on form, it was a comfortable victory in the first race with Short taking the victory.

 

Race two on Sunday with the sun shining at Silverstone and the win of the day still fresh in the team's mind the first race was a comfortable win again for Short, with the car running well, and tyres dialled in.  Richard Chamberlain sadly only lasted a couple of laps and opposition struggling to make any dent in the Mosler's performance, it was top step again for Short. By the afternoon the die was set for the weekend with Short again taking the honours.  Richard Chamberlain seemingly back to full form, it was a great race to start with.  Pulling times of 54s on the national circuit it looked set for a good dice, but sadly a fan belt problem took Chamberlain out of the fight. 

 

Back in second and third Kevin Riley and Derek Johnston in his 548 had the race of the weekend, but Short swept the board with a third win of weekend."The opposition has had its problems this weekend" said Short after the race.  "It's been a bit of a romp, but would really have liked a more concerted opposition this weekend.  It's always great to take home the silverware, but its a great shame that the guys that could have made it a real race, have had their problems.  I'm looking forward to the next rounds and hope that it will be more of a test for the Mosler.  Meanwhile, the car is running superbly and couldn't be happier with my new "Tiger".  With the new aero on the car she is such a pleasure to drive!  With apologies to my wife, I love that car! With three wins, three fastest laps, a lap record, and my eye on the Sunoco Challenge I'm in love ... !!"

 

With no Praga cars available for the next round of Dutch Supercar Challenge over at the Nürburgring next weekend, Martin Short and the Rollcentre Mosler will be sharing the drive along side drivers from the New Generation Praga Scheme, a drive which will give the young drivers a chance to gain valuable experience in a completely different kind of car.
